D. Elliot Woods
hails from the city of Indianapolis, Indiana where
synchronicity as well as his precocious nature were
bound to lead him down his current artistic path.
As fate would have it and well before his acting
career began to ascend, award-winning actor & director
Morgan Freeman served in the military and
befriended one of Elliot‘s uncles.
Later, Mr. Freeman kindly served as a back-up to
the "back-up" babysitter for "little EL" on numerous
occasions. Consequently, as Mr.
Freeman's career gradually began to take hold, Elliot
had someone that he actually KNEW that was onscreen...
which fed his considerable curiosity. The next leg of Mr. Woods' journey took him to Colorado College where he was a triple major, receiving his B.A. in Drama, English and Sociology. Balancing academics and athletics simultaneously, Elliot also became the basketball team's Captain and Most Valuable Player as he led the team in scoring and rebounding during his junior and senior years. While recovering from a leg injury suffered while playing basketball after his junior year, fate stepped in once again as Mr. Woods stumbled into a Drama course that changed his life forever. He had decided to take the course on a lark because there was going to be a 'visiting professor'. That visiting professor's name turned out to be acclaimed actress Alfre Woodard and once he was bitten by the acting bug, Woods became a regular in Theatre Arts courses, later studying under superb actor and director Bill Duke as well. These notables encouraged and eventually influenced Mr. Woods to seek the higher heights of Hollywood.
His future
began to take shape as he gradually established himself
as a ‘working actor' in Tinsel Town via supporting roles
in several big-budget films as well as Guest starring on
a multitude of Television shows.
Showing his range whenever possible, Mr. Woods equally
balances his appearances between 1-hour Dramas and
half-hour shows (Sitcoms).
Aside from his numerous accomplishments in "the business", undoubtedly his proudest moments have been witnessing the birth of his two children. His daughter has already found the spotlight several times via appearances in commercials or when she simply accompanies her Daddy to the set. It will be a long time before we "fade out" on this wonderful actor/writer. |
